Binga– In a significant step toward disaster recovery, Vice President Kembo Mohadi will officially commission 37 new houses on Thursday for families displaced by the devastating 2020 floods in Nsungwale Village, Binga District.
The homes, part of the government’s Binga Housing Recovery Project, mark a critical milestone in resettling families who lost everything when the Sibwambwa, Sikanda, Namapande, and Manyenyengwa rivers overflowed, displacing 181 households.
A Fresh Start: What the New Homes Offer
✔ Modern Amenities: Unlike traditional pole-and-dagga structures, the houses feature improved living conditions.
✔ Water & Infrastructure: Completed reticulation systems ensure access to clean water.
✔ Road Access: A 10.5km gravel road** has been rehabilitated for better connectivity.
Binga District Development Coordinator, Mr. Lands Kabome:
“This project reflects the government’s commitment to leaving no one behind. VP Mohadi’s commissioning solidifies our disaster recovery efforts.”
