Esigodini Woman Burnt To Death In Cabin Attack

Police in Esigodini have launched a manhunt for two suspects who allegedly murdered a 56-year-old woman by setting a cabin alight after attacking her and another man at a farm in Mbalabala.

 

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the murder and attempted murder incident occurred on 23 July 2026 at Ngenisa Farm, Mbalabala, Esigodini.

 

The deceased has been identified as Tracy Simela, 56.

 

Commissioner Nyathi said two unknown male suspects, armed with a knife and an axe, allegedly attacked Simela and a 46-year-old man, who is the complainant in the matter.

 

The suspects allegedly stole an Oking cellphone, a Vodafone cellphone and US$20 cash during the attack.

 

“They allegedly assaulted the victims, poured petrol inside the cabin, locked them inside and set it on fire before fleeing into the bush,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

 

Simela died after being trapped inside the burning cabin, while the 46-year-old man managed to escape with severe burns.

 

Police said investigations are underway.
