High School Teacher Found Dead, His Head Crushed.

A teacher at Mavhudzi High School was found dead with a crushed head on Saturday morning in Magamba suburb, Rusape, in an incident that has shocked the community.

The victim, Norman Guri, was discovered lying in a pool of blood, his head crushed, with several large stones found beside him and brain matter splashed around. Police have since launched investigations to bring the culprits to book.

Rusape Town Council Ward 4 councillor and chairman, Lovemore Chifomboti, said Guri’s gruesome death has left residents petrified, with many now avoiding walking at night.

“I was among the first people to arrive at the scene. His head was crushed by large rocks. Blood was splashed all over. He died a few metres from his house,” said Cllr Chifomboti.

“It was a sad and disturbing scene because Mr Guri was a good person. He was a teacher who had a thriving horticulture project at his house. Following his brutal murder, residents of Magamba are now living in fear.”

Annah Guri, the deceased’s sister, said the family is in shock over her brother’s callous murder.

“We are failing to come to terms with our brother’s death. How can they do such a thing to him? They should just have robbed him and spared his life,” she said.

“I have never seen a person dying in such gruesome circumstances. We hope the police will bring the culprits to book and bring closure to this case.”

Guri’s body was set to be transported to Harare for pathological examination to determine the cause of death.
