A group of five youths namely Kundai Kwashirai, Matipa Chabuka, Isheanesu Chawanda, Tsitsi Chizema and Panashe in partnership with the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) has come up with an idea to help those in needy in Ushewokunze, Harare, supporting them to set their own goals so as to build a life free of poverty.
In an interview with 263times, a member of YWCA Runyararo Tembani said they realised that by sponsoring the poor, they create a powerful multiplier effect, helping them see beyond the daily struggles of life in poverty.
“When considering poverty in the developing world, many people feel deep sorrow but conclude that there is nothing we can do, the scale of poverty is immense and we seem powerless to stop it.
“Such despair is understandable, but the facts tell a very different story, while poverty is indeed extreme and widespread, it is easy to forget just how many people there are in the developed world, and how powerful our pocket can change lives when pooled together,” she said.
