President of Christian fellowship, Reki Jimu has urged religious groups not to reject some or all mainstream health care on theological grounds.
In an interview with 263times,Mr Jimu said he almost passed away due to Religion forbidding him from seeking medical attention.
“Most Churches believe that the only method of healing should be through prayer, and many members have in the past been against modern medical treatments which led to more cases of Aids deaths,” he said.
Jimu encouraged everyone to get treated at the hospital if not feeling well, before the disease worsens and for churches not to discriminate people if they are HIV positive.
Furthermore, Jimu said people should not be fooled by myths that HIV is treated by raping an HIV negative infant or an albino.
“HIV is not cured by such beliefs, whereby one rapes a young virgin girl or has sexual intercourse with an albino, that is totally a lie, people should visit the hospital for treatment,” Jimu added.
