A Msasa Park woman and her daughter were allegedly robbed in the dead of the night at their home.
The assailant was allegedly armed with a hoe handle.
According to a report made to the police, Violet Mapfeka and her daughter Anesu Mapfeka were asleep at their place of residence when an unidentified man gained entry into the house through an unlocked door.
The assailant allegedly went into Anesu’s room and struck her on the head with the hoe handle before ransacking the house and getting away with an IPhone XR cell phone, an HP laptop and two Power star car batteries.
Anesu sustained a deep cut on the head and was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare Province, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.
“On 9 August 2023 at around 0340 hours, complainant and her daughter Anesu Racheal MAPFEKA NR 63-2511904-N-47, aged 16 years were asleep at their place of residence when one unknown male adult who was armed with a hoe gained entry through an unlocked dinning room door.
“The unknown male adult proceeded to Anesu Racheal MAPFEKA’s room and hit her once on the forehead with a hoe handle whilst demanding money. Anesu Racheal MAPFEKA told the accused person that she did not have money.
“The accused person then ransacked the room and took an IPhone XR cell phone, HP Redcore 13 laptop, two Power star car batteries and went away. A report was made at ZRP Hatfield at around 1330 hours and the scene was attended and two Powerstar car batteries which were abandoned near the complainant‘s yard were recovered.
“No arrests were. Anesu Racheal MAPFEKA sustained a cut on the forehead and was referred to Parirenyatwa hospital for treatment. Total value stolen is US$750-00 and US$140-00 was recovered. Investigations are in progress.,” said Chakanza
