A 19 year old man from Ruwa suburb has been arrested on allegations of raping raping a 14 year girl.
According to the police report, the man, whose identity cannot be revealed in order to protect the minor, allegedly raped the 14 year old girl whom he had invited to his sister’s home.
He allegedly invited her to his sister’s house knowing that his sister was not at home.
On the day in question, when the minor arrived, the alleged rapist took her to the toilet and raped her without any protection.
After the alleged act, she reportedly returned home and didn’t tell anyone.
The situation came to light after the minor’s mother discovered that she was pregnant, and that is when she explained the full story of what had happened.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.
“On an unknown date in the month of April 2023 around 2100 hours, the accused person invited complainant to his sister’s home since his sister was not at home and complainant complied. Upon arrival, the accused person took her to the toilet and raped her once without protection.
“Complainant returned home and did not disclose the matter to anyone. Matter came to light on 21 September 2023 around 1100 hours when complainant’s mother suspected that she was pregnant. Complainant’s mother asked her and she narrated the matter.
“On 23 September 2023 around 1600 hours, complainant was escorted by her sister (name withheld) to make a report at ZRP Ruwa. Scene was attended and accused person was arrested.
“He is detained under ZRP Ruwa . Complainant was referred to Hospital for medical examination. Investigations are in progress,” reads the docket.
