Man Disappears With USD85 000 After Selling Two Bogus Stands In Bluff Hill

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for a Ruwa man after he allegedly swindled a 37yr old Westgate man of USD85 000 in a stand deal.

According to a report made to the police, Moses Silver purchased two stands in Bluffhill, Westgate, at a cost of USD35 000 each from one Godknows Mbwende. Silver also allegedly gave Mbwende USD15 000 construction services at the two stands.

On the commencement of the construction phase, an unknown man reportedly approached Silver and claimed he was the owner of the two stands, and told him he had purchased stands from a bogus seller as he was the owner of the said stands.

On hearing this, Silver reportedly tried to engaged Mbwende on the issue.

However, Mbwende was reportedly evasive before he disappeared altogether, leading to Silver filing a report with the Police.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson, Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said Mbwende is still at large.

“The accused person misrepresented to the complaint that he had two residential stands he was selling in bluff hill area at a Value of US$ 35000-00 each, the complaint then paid for the two stands and then went on to give the accused US$ 15000-00 for construction works which were supposed to be done at the stands since the accused is into construction business.

“When the construction started the complainant was then approached by the real owner of the stands and was told that he had bought stands to someone who is not the owner of the stands.  Total value defrauded is US$85000-00. The complainant then tried to engage the accused who became evasive leading to him making a report at ZRP Highlands,” said Chakanza.
