The much awaited annual Harare Jacaranda Music Festival, hosted by Stanbic Bank, one of the leading African service providers in the banking sector, will be held on October 4 to 6 this year at Thornpark Polo Club.
The event, which attracts thousands of attendees every year, will feature local, regional and international music artists celebrating Zimbabwean culture and music.
Freeman, Nutty O, Master H, Mbeu, and Feli Nandi will be part of local artists lined up to perform during the flashy three day event, with big names like Cassper Nyovest and Micasa set to represent regional artists.
Speaking at the official launch of this year’s Jacaranda Music Festival in Harare Tuesday, Permanent Secretary of Sports, Arts and Culture Nicholas Moyo applauded the Stanbic Bank for promoting Zimbabwean music and culture.
“It is my pleasure to be part of such history in the promotion of music in this country. Let me congratulate Stanbic on its support. It means a lot in the creative sector, but it also helps create a narrative about how cooperates can tangle with creatives,” he said.
Head of Business and Commercial Banking with Stanbic, Partson Mahachi, said the Jacaranda Music Festival has vast benefits to the country’s economic growth, as it attracts tourism and creates employment.
He said, “Local events like this do more than entertainment, because they play a crucial role in boosting tourism by showcasing our culture to the world. By supporting this festival, we are contributing to employment, creating opportunities for many individuals who will play a part in the role value chain.”
The Executive Director of National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ), Mr Napolean Nyanhi said, “We are excited to see Europeans, Americans and Asians attending the Jacaranda annual music Festival this year.”
The Stanbic Jacaranda Music Festival has become one of the premiere music events in the region by attracting thousands of people across the country. Last year, over 13 000 people attended the event, and the number is expected to increase this year.
