Met Department Predicts Warm Weather Ahead

The Meteorological service department (Met) has predicted warm weather this week saying it will be sunny and warm across the whole country with brief cloudy periods in all Mashonaland provinces and Harare metropolitan province however isolated afternoon thunder showers remain a possibility.

In a statement, the Met department said, “warm conditions persisted across the country with isolated thunderstorms in Mashonaland west province though the amounts were 14mm Kariba and 10mm Chinhoyi. However, the atmosphere is less humid with a north easterly airflow prevailing in most parts of the country.”

Meanwhile, the Met department predicted that the dry weather might cause crops to dry which might not be good for the crops that are not yet ripe.

“Crops might show signs of moisture stress.

“Farmer with crops that still need significant amounts of water should plan with irrigation in mind. NB: Pfumvudza plots are easy to irrigate even by hand.” The statement read.

Poultry producers were urged to take care of broilers as they are sensitive to temperature changes.

“Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations and therefore need to be checked regularly and adjustment made.” The statement further read.
