Man In Court For Theft And Unlawful Possession Of Firearms

Baureni Blessing Makiwa (52), of the Clevdon farm in Kadoma, was charged with theft and another count of violating the Firearms Act when he appeared before the Kadoma Magistrate’s Court.

Allegations are that, on the 28th of September 2024, the accused person who was driving a Mercedes Benz failed to pay for fuel valued at USD 90 for filling up his car at a Kadoma fuel station. He is additionally accused of threatening a fuel attendant at another Kadoma fuel station after the attendant turned down his request for free fuel.

Before going to a nearby restaurant and threatening the owner there by putting another live round on top of a blue T-shirt with the words “crime eliminator,” he threatened the petrol attendant by taking out a live round.

Following the restaurant altercation, the accused turned himself in to the police, which is how the situation became public. When eight live rounds were found in his car during a search by the police, the man was taken into custody.

The accused person was remanded in custody to the 9th of October 2024, pending examination in terms of the Mantal Health Act.
