Ambassador of the state of Palestine to Zimbabwe, Tamer Almassri, today condemned the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for their “relentless” airstrike attacks on Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza on Tuesday, which killed over 29 Palestinians and left thousands injured.
The diplomat said the international community must avoid mere talk, but take action against the Israeli military bombardments in Gaza, insisting their presence is “preventing the entry of fuel and humanitarian aid”.
In a statement, Dr. Almassri called the international bodies to impose comprehensive sanctions on Israel and those supporting their military action in Gaza, adding their attacks have facilitated “land annexation against the Palestinian people”.
“The Israeli apartheid military occupation army has committed a massacre, killing more than 29 Palestinians in its relentless airstrikes on Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, since dawn today. Israeli occupation also imposed a severe siege on hospitals in northern Gaza, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid.
“The state of Palestine demands strong and concrete measures to pressure Israel into implementing the UN General Assembly resolution that endorses the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion calling for an end to the occupation within 12 months.
“The state of Palestine calls for comprehensive sanctions targeting the entire settler-colonial system, holding all entities responsible for promoting or engaging in settler terrorism and systematic land annexation against the Palestinian people as fascist leaders who perpetuate war crimes in Gaza and Westbank,” he said.
According to Almassri, the Palestinian death toll from the Israeli onslaught since October 2023 has risen to 43 374 reported fatalities, while over 10 000 are still under rubbles. He added that 102 261 individuals sustained serious injuries, with the majority being women and children.
