The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Zimbabwe has expressed outrage and devastation over the brutal murder of two Palestinian journalists, Helmi Al-Faqaawi and Yousef al-Khazinda, during an Israeli missile strike on a journalists’ tent at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza.
Another journalist, Ahmed Mansour, was severely injured in the attack, which marks the latest in a series of assaults targeting media professionals in the blockaded enclave. The death toll of journalists killed by Israeli forces has now surpassed 210.
Ambassador Tamer Almassri has vehemently condemned the deliberate targeting of Palestinian journalists, describing it as a systematic effort to enforce a media blackout and prevent the world from witnessing the scale of violence in Gaza. He criticized the international community for its silence and inaction, which he believes has emboldened Israel to continue its campaign with impunity.
“The Israeli occupation has continued its brutality in Gaza due to the lack of deterrent measures and the inaction of the global community,” Ambassador Almassri stated. He emphasized that international laws designed to protect human rights have become meaningless in the face of ongoing violations against Palestinians.
He said, “International laws and agreements designed to protect human rights have become meaningless in the face of ongoing crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The right to life, education, health, and other fundamental rights have been stripped away from Palestinians, who are subjected to Israeli brutal killing machines, use of banned chemical weapons, and unimaginable suffering.
“The world cannot continue to turn a blind eye to Israel’s criminal machine. We urge all nations to stand up for justice, human rights, and international law and to take immediate action to stop Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinian people.
“Ambassador Almassri emphasize that Palestinians will remain steadfast in their legitimate struggle for self-determination and will continue to resist occupation and displacement. They will never raise the white flag in the face of Israel’s apartheid and genocidal policies.”
