Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology, Postal Courier Service, Tatenda Mavetera, has emphasized the importance of digital transformation in land governance to empower young people and unlock the full potential of land ownership.
Speaking at the 2025 Leadership Success Series in Masvingo, Mavetera highlighted the need for digital land registries to reduce disputes and empower young farmers.
The theme of the event, “Land Tenure: Unlocking the Potential of Young People,” resonated with Mavetera’s message, as she encouraged young people to leverage technology for a brighter future. “The land is ours. The technology is here, and the time is now,” Mavetera said, emphasizing that Zimbabwe would not be left behind in the growth of the industrial revolution.
Mavetera noted that technology innovation would redefine Zimbabwe’s economic landscape, enabling farmers to access financing and markets with ease, driving agricultural development.
She urged young people to be architects of the future, harnessing the power of technology to unlock opportunities and develop land effectively.
The minister also highlighted the importance of technology hubs established under the Second Republic, which incubate startups that transform land into smart enterprises. These hubs drive creativity, innovation, and job creation, contributing significantly to Zimbabwe’s economic growth.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira, echoed Mavetera’s sentiments, encouraging young people to be responsible in heritage preservation. Chadzamira emphasized the value of investing in agriculture, citing its potential to create employment, stimulate rural industrialization, and drive economic growth.
Chadzamira added that investments in land would lead to the development of infrastructure, such as roads, conference centers, and retirement homes, further boosting the economy.
He encouraged young people to take an active role in shaping their future through responsible land use and investment.
