Zimbabwean Artists are crying foul over the lockdown restriction measures that have seen the banning of both local and international shows.
Various Artists have met the Ministry of Youths, Sports, Arts and Recreation in Harare today in a bid to find a way forward as many are struggling to make ends meet.
Many artist are struggling to pay for rentals, food, school fees among other human necessities.
In response to their grievances, Deputy Minister of Youths, Sports, Arts and Recreation, Honourable Tinodaishe Machakaire said the issues raised will be taken into consideration by the Ministry and will be taken into consideration. He therefore assured the artist that all will be well soon.
“All the concerns you have raised have been taken into consideration, we will sit down as the Ministry and work on the way forward but I promise you that all will be well.” He said.
The President relaxed lockdown measures on other sectors such as churches, restaurants and schools that were recently opened. Artist were therefore calling on the government to at least allow them to hold shows.
The Deputy Minister further urged the artist to continue bringing their problems to the Ministry.
“We also have an open door policy, feel free to come to come to us any time. We really appreciate you.” He added.
Artists present included, Alick Macheso, Pastor Charles Charamba, Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Seh Calaz, Selmor Mtukudzi, Tendai Manatsa, Baba Shupi, Stunner among other artists.
