Minister of Public Service, Labor and Social Welfare, Professor Paul Mavhima has officially opened the National Social Security Authority {NSSA} clinic and isolation center.
The facility is going to act as an isolation center and a clinic for NSSA staff members and pensioners which is a positive development in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and as well as a safe preparatory measure against the 3rd wave that is suspected to be already in some parts of the country.
Speaking at the launch in Harare today, Professor Paul Mavhima emphasized that as {NSSA} they were on a drive to ensure that each region in Zimbabwe is well covered in terms of health provisions by purchasing more mobile clinics for efficient rapid response as well as setting up fixed clinics around all Zimbabwean regions.
“NSSA will be purchasing more mobile clinics to enable each region to have its own mobile clinic to facilitate rapid response issues as they arise hence in the same vein NSSA is on a drive to set up fixed clinics throughout the country for it’s pensioners and staff and today we are commissioning the first of such clinics that will be established in all regions,” he said.
The Former Minister of Primary and Secondary Education added that the isolation center was going to cater for NSSA staff while encouraging Zimbabweans to be vaccinated against the Covid- 19 pandemic which he said was still in the country.
“This center will also serve as a Covid-19 isolation center for NSSA staff, currently Covid-19 is still in our midst and government has rolled out a vaccination programme for free and today l reiterate the government’s call on everyone to get vaccinated,” said Mavhima.
Professor Paul Mavhima also assured that they were assisting vulnerable groups of the society through NSSA insisting that it was part of the government goal to ensure that marginalized communities are taken care of.
“Our government’s economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy 1 priorities social protection for vulnerable members of the society who includes the aged, orphans and widows in that regard it is encouraging to note that over the years NSSA has been consistent in carrying out it’s government ordained mandate of paying benefits that are provided for under the currently administered schemes,” he added.
Professor Paul Mavhima was welcomed by NSSA General Manager, Mr Arthur Manase, NSSA Board Chairman, Dr Percy Toriro, NSSA Board members and other government officials.
The official opening of the isolation center and clinic will go a long way in addressing non monetary benefits and alleviating lives of NSSA pensioners at large.
