Teachers To Strike, Demands Payment In USD

Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) has demanded pay raise in United States currency else they will not report to work next week.

In a statement, ZIMTA said teachers will not report on duty when schools open on Monday.

“After a wide consultation of all our 42,000 members, the ZIMTA national executive hereby declares that educators will not be able to report for duty on September 28 2020, for the opening of schools as they are incapacitated,” they said.

The teachers are demanding $US520 from the rtgs equivalent US$35 they are currently getting.

Schools are set to open next week on the 28th of September .
