Organisation Advocating For Girls Sanity

Orion Foundation Trust has called upon well wishers to donate sanitary pads ahead of the international day of girlĀ  child which is celebrated on the 11 of October every year with the theme.

Orion Foundation Trust will be celebrating the day with the theme ‘my voice, our equal future.’

In an interview with 263times, Orion Foundation Trust director, Sibongile shumirai Whata said they will move around schools in Zvimba West donating sanitary pads to students ahead of the 2020 examination period.

“Ahead of the International Day of the Girl Child and the 2020 Exam period. Orion foundation Trust has initiated a pad drive to assist vulnerable writing candidates. Sanitary wear has become a challenge to the girl child especially the ones living in rural communities with some even missing school during their menstruation.

In this regard the organisation is seeking donations of sanitary pads that will go towards the writing candidates so that they do not miss their exams due to lack of sanitary pads. Your contribution will go a long way in empowering the girl child.” She said

Sibongile said the commemoration will happen on the 12th of October at Nyamangara secondary school in Zvimba.

“We are going to be moving around Zvimba west donating pads to vulnerable kids writing their form 4 and form 6. The commemorations are going to be done on the 12 since 11 will be on Sunday.” She said.
