ZETDC Urges Consumers To Trim Down Trees To Avoid Power Cuts

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has urged consumers to trim down tress so as to avoid power cuts.

In a statement, ZETDC said residents are required to remove obstacles around power cables that might interfere with proper distribution of electricity at their premises.

“Customers are required under Statutory Instrument (SI) 47 of 2017 to remove any obstacles, including tree branches and trees that interfere with the transmission and distribution of electricity in their premises.” The statement read in part.

However for the safety of consumers, ZETDC said the trimming and cutting of such trees in customer premises should be done under their supervision.

“Customers are urged to liaise with their nearest Customer Service Center (Depot) for guidance on trimming and cutting of such trees and branches that obstruct overhead electricity cables in customer premises.” The statement further read.

Power faults caused by trees falling on power cables have become rampant in most parts of the country especially in this rainy season.
