Following confusion on whether the MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa fired the party’s Secretary General, Chalton Hwende and appointed David Chimhiri as the acting Secretary General, the MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzai Mahere has clarified that Chalton Hwende is still the Secretary General but is crrently on pre- planned leave.
In an interview with 263times, Miss Fadzai Mahere said, the Secretary General has not been suspended nor is there any intention to suspend him.
“The Secretary – General is currently on pre-planned leave. He is currently taking a well- deserved annual break from office duties. He has not been suspended nor is there any intention or basis to suspend him. We look forward to his official return which is scheduled for mid -March.” She said.
