The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has as of Sunday arrested a total of 19 531 people since the beginning of the year.
In a statement, ZRP said the suspects were arrested due to different criminal activities that include failing to register their vehicles, illegal forex dealing and other criminal activities.
“The ZRP has intensified operations; ‘no to unregistered motor vehicles’, ‘no to touts’, ‘no to unscrupulous fuel dealers’, ‘no to illegal forex dealers’, ‘no to dangerous weapons’, ‘no to machete gangs’ and ‘no to cross border crimes’ among other Police Operations.” The statement read in part.
The police therefore urged members of the public to desist from criminal activities.
“On 07/03/21, a combined total of 451 arrests were made on the above stated operations, bringing the cumulative total arrest to 19 531 since 01/01/21.
“Meanwhile Police urges members of the public to shun crime & report all criminal activities at any police station.” The statement further read.
