Zanu PF legislator for Mberengwa South, Alum Mpofu has died.
The former ZBC Chief Executive Officer died last night in Masvingo and this was confirmed by Mberengwa west legislator, Cde Jorum Gumbo.
Mpofu was hounded out of the state broadcaster in 2002 allegedly being caught in a “compromising” position with a young man at Harare’s then popular Tipperary Restaurant and nightclub.
Mpofu who succumbed to kidney failure become Mberengwa South legislator after winning the chaotic Zanu PF primary elections in 2018.
The lawmaker has been unwell since last year and has been in and out of hospital seeking medical attention.
Alum Mpofu was one of the Zanu PF bigwigs pushing for the Patriotic Bill that criminalise people who speak ill about the country to outsiders, particularly the West.
