Africa Covid-19 Recoveries Surpasses 4 million

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) says a total of 4 223 777 Covid -19 recoveries have been recorded in Africa as at May 13.

According to the Africa CDC, the continent recorded 4 666 162 cumulative cases, 125 548 deaths and 4 223 777 recoveries.

A total of 45 493 124 Covid-19 tests have been conducted since the start of the pandemic in 2019.

Southern Africa recorded 2 001 761 cumulative cases, 62 928 deaths and 1 892 198 recoveries as at the same date.

According to Africa CDC, South Africa continues to dominate the region’s list with 1 605 252 cumulative cases, 55 012 deaths and 1 520 878 recoveries.

Eswatini has the lowest Covid-19 cases as it has recorded 18 497 cumulative cases, 671 deaths and 17 786 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, as of Thursday last week, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa has reached 4,660,304 as the death toll from the pandemic stands at 125,404 while 4,219,117 patients across the continent have recovered from the disease, according to the agency. XINHUA
