In an interview, producer and director of the show, Admire Maramba said actors and producers are Zimbabweans as well and therefore should be part of the campaigns.
”For a long time now, the President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa has called upon the citizens of this country to take charge of their communities and have clean up campaigns every First Friday of the month,
”Since that was initiated as Estate Blues we decided that we should be involved as well in cleaning up the environment and our communities. That is why we decided today, to come into the streets just to be involved as one of the television production and Zimbabwean citizens.” Maramba said.
Asked on the question why they initiated themselves only without having involving otherĀ television shows he said, there is no problem in working with others, we will do that but firstly it’s important for us to be involved as Estate Blues as you know that charity begins at home and as the Estate Blues we believe we are leaders of other soapies so we do and they follow.” He said.
Maramba added that there are no other soapies that have embarked on this exercise so far.
”I do not think there is any other television production that has embarked on this exercise, we are the first now that we have done it , I believe if any other tv productions that will be interested we can partner up with them every Friday to keep our environment clean.” He said.
Asked on challenges they came up with organising the cleaning up campaign,
He said ”Challenges were there, firstly we tried to get companies to help us but it was in vain. This is a clean up campaign that needs brooms, buckets, bins , gloves and refreshments as well, but no one was there to help us but its just our determination and our passion that has driven us to be here today.”
Furthermore, Estate Blues producer urged other television production to love their country and be part of every event that happens in communities.
”I urge all other film producers, actors and everyone behind the scenes in television production to love our communities, our country, love ourselves as well so that we endeavor to see our communities and our streets clean. When Zimbabweans are called upon to do something lets all be part of it and be exited in doing the activities.” He said.
Asked on the question where he see the Estate Blues in the next Five years to come ,
He said, ”Estate Blues is one of the most competitive dramas, so in the next five years l see that the whole of Africa will be talking about Estate Blues as we are going to continue excelling in the film.
Asked on the challenges affecting the film industry he said that funding is the major reason.
”Funding is one of the main challenges affecting us. Films are now with the passion of actors whilst we are not making anything from it. Currently as Estate Blues we are running with no sponsors its just our passion. If Zimbabwean corporates could support us that will improve us and help us to be the best every time.”
They reported that they intend to go to other high density areas were their fans are coming from, making them part of the clean up campaign.
All the actors were interested to be part of the clean up campaign as a team.
Furthermore, the Estate Blues producer urged companies that also sell fast foods to consider the environment by putting more bins for people to throw litter.
