Giant seed company producer, Seed Co has announced to it’s employees that from the first of August 2021 those that are not vaccinated against the Covid-19 will be forced to vacate the company premises and barred from boarding Seed Co buses.
In a memo addressed to Seed Co staff, dated July 27 2021, Seed Co said those who will refuse to be vaccinated will have to provide a negative Covid-19 certificate valid within 24 hours at their own cost.
“With effect from 1 August 2021, the company will send all unvaccinated employees on leave and will request to see Covid-19 vaccinations certificates or negative PCR certificates taken within 24 hours at the cost of unvaccinated employees as and when they come to the factory.” Read the memo.
Seed Co said the new initiative is to protect employees that are vaccinated.
“While it is recognised that the individual has a right to choose not to be vaccinated, the company will exercise it’s right to protect vaccinated staff by barring entry of all unvaccinated employees and others into the Seed Co buses and premises.” The memo read.
Meanwhile, Seed Co said they already purchased 10 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines for their staff hence all should be vaccinated.
“The board and management of Seed Co is commended for showing leadership in being among the first to be vaccinated. In addition, the Board approved the purchase of 10 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines for staff and key stakeholders,” the memo further read.
