Seedco Donates 5000 Vaccines To AGRITEX

Zimbabwe giant seed company, Seedco has donated 5 000 vaccines to Agricultural Technical and Extension Services (AGRITEX) which will vaccinate 2 500 people against the Covid -19.

The donation was meant to alleviate the vaccination drive in the agricultural sector when the country is targeting to inoculate at least 60percent of its population.

To date more than one million people have been vaccinated, having received either the first dose or second.

Speaking during the handover of the vaccines in Harare yesterday, Minister of Local Government and Public Works, July Moyo said the government is providing Covid-19 vaccines to every willing citizen to ensure that business will get back to normal.

Moyo added that the government called on the private sector to participate in the vaccination programme whilst acknowledging the private sector’s continuous support to the government on the Covid-19 vaccination drive.

“The government has successfully rolled out Covid-19 vaccination programme and are calling on every eligible person to be vaccinated so that the country can get back to normal. Our vaccination is free and available to everyone.

“I am pleased to acknowledge the strides made by Seed Co a large company in the agricultural sector, to ensure that not only are the members of your organization vaccinated, but also successfully conducted vaccinations to the neighboring community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Settlement, Dr Anxious Masuka also commented on the donation adding that it was a welcome development which will ensure that Zimbabwe attain herd immunity and allow the economy to boost again.

He added that all people in the agricultural sector should get vaccinated as they are frontline workers.

“The agricultural sector has been awarded the special essential service status because it’s a special service even in the midst of the pandemic we are allowed to operate, but adhering to Covid-19 guidelines hence we should all get vaccinated,” said Minister Masuku.

AGRITEX is a Zimbabwean government principal extension agency and the largest rural intervention agency with representatives at the national, provincial, district and village levels. AGRITEX offers a blanket public good service, which farmers are expected to use.
