Mapeza Faces A Tough Choice

Warriors interim coach, Norman Mapeza is still to decide which role he will give to man-of-the-moment Jordan Zemura when Zimbabwe face-off against Ghana in a 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.

The Bournemouth left-back was deployed as a left-sided midfielder in the only two games he has played in Warriors colours the back-to-back 2021 Afcon qualifiers against Algeria last year.

Then, the Warriors were under the tutelage of axed Croatian gaffer Zdravko Logarusic.

Mapeza is set to preside over the squad starting with the weekend’s game on having been appointed on an interim basis and the FC Platinum coach has revealed he will have to consult Zemura on which position he feels he can excel.

“What I want is to play the players in the positions that they feel comfortable and think they can play to the best of their abilities,” said Mapeza.

“I will talk to him (Zemura) and if he says coach look I have been playing as an offensive midfielder, and if he is comfortable on that side, I will play him that side.”

The 21-year old has been a revelation in the English Championship side since making his debut at the start of the current season.

So good has been Zemura in Scott Parker’s pace-setters he was actually voted the best player for the Cherries for the month of August.

He has scored twice in 11 outings and he is one of the front-runners for the September player of the month as well.
