ZACC Urges Journalists To Expose Corruption

The Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission {ZACC} has urged the media to exercise their duties without fear or favor in exposing corruption activities across all sectors in the country.

ZACC implored the media to spread information through the National Anti Corruption Strategy document, {NACS} to vulnerable Zimbabweans who are unable to acquire the information.

The NACS document aims at eradicating corruption in Zimbabwe and it was launched by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the 11th of July Last year.

Its launch was coincidental with the Africa Anti Corruption Day.

Speaking during a breakfast meeting in Harare this morning on the discussion of NACS, Commissioner of the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission Incharge of External Relations, Mrs Ndakaripa Hungwe said:

“The media has a role to play in terms of reporting because they have eyes that not everyone has, so everyone has to go on NACS.”

Meanwhile, the President of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Zimbabwe Mr Sheikh Ishmael Duwa urged all church leaders and stakeholders to desist from corruption but however engage into other positive developments that will ensure the development of the country.

He also insisted that churches should resolve corruption issues in their internal operations before accusing government as a corruption hub.

“Corruption is mostly seen in churches. If you do corruption whilst you are in church you will destroy the community because churches provides relief funds which help in developmental projects like building of schools hence there is need to end corruption within church circles.

“So lets first correct ourselves as churches before alleging that the government is responsible in corruption activities across the country,” he said.

The Breakfast meeting was also hosted by International Transparency Zimbabwe {ITZ}.
