Government Receives US$5000 Donation For Cyclone Idai

The Comesa Competition Commission has donated Us$5000 to the Government, that is to be channeled towards the repairs of damages caused by Cyclone Idai.

The gift was received by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ambassador James Manzou, on behalf of his Minister, Ambassador Fredrick Shava.

The Permanent Secretary James Manzou honoured the pledge and also noted that the team was on a “Fact-finding Mission and National Awareness Workshop on Consumer Protection Law and Enforcement in Zimbabwe”.

Zimbabwe is being configured towards economic prosperity and the arrival of the delegation in the country is a timely one, coming at a critical time in our efforts towards enhancing economic competitiveness and protecting the welfare of consumers,” said Ambassador Manzou.

On behalf of the Government and people of Zimbabwe, I receive this donation and request that you convey our sincerest gratitude to the Commission Board for the intervention.”

The donation comes at a time when the Government is seized with the restoration of livelihoods for Cyclone Idai victims.

The Chairperson of the COMESA competition commission board, Mrs Ellen Ruparanganda presented the donation and also gave a speech on the importance of preserving the environment.
