Zimbabweans Government Speaks on Zimbabwean Nationals In Ukraine As War Looms

The Government of Zimbabwe has confirmed that there are a number of it’s nationals resident in Ukraine.

This comes following the Russia-Ukraine tensions which are likely to lead to war.

In a statement, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services said Government has noted the current situation in Ukraine and that there are Zimbabweans who may be caught in the conflict.

The Government advised its affected citizens, who mainly constitute University students, to contact the Zimbabwean embassy in Berlin, Germany.

“Govt has taken note of the current situation in Ukraine and the possibility of our nationals being caught in it. Any Zimbabwean in Ukraine needing government intervention is advised to make contact with our Embassy in Berlin on Tel: +49 30 232556760, infor@zimembassyberlin.com.” the statement read.

The Russian President Vladmir Putin in the early hours of today ordered what he termed “a special military operation” against Ukraine, citing allegations of “genocide” against Russian speakers in the eastern parts of the country.

Putin also issued a stern warning against any country that may want to interfere with Russian action, saying his country would proffer an immediate response with dire consequences.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ambassador to Ukraine, Partha Satpathy issued an advisory to all Indian nationals in Ukraine, calling for their evacuation.
