The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of two 17 year old suspects accused of impregnating a 9 year old girl in Bindura.
The suspects were arrested when medical examinations revealed the 9 year old girl was six months pregnant.
The shocking details of the Bindura minor’s rape were revealed after suspicious school officials at Kambira Primary School took the Grade 3 pupil to Bindura Hospital on Wednesday with her mother’s consent.
Hospital tests confirmed the girl’s innocence had been violated, and that she was 6 months pregnant with a breech baby in her womb.
Posting on its Twitter handle, ZRP said it was going to engage various government parastatals to ensure justice prevailed.
“ZRP confirms the arrest of two suspects aged 17 who raped a 9 year old girl in Bindura. The girl was medically examined, and it was established that she is six months three weeks pregnant.
“The ZRP is now working with other relevant arms of the government to ensure that due processes are followed,” reads the post.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, also confirmed about the horrifying incident in an interview.

“The minor is currently six months and three weeks pregnant, and police investigations are still ongoing,” Nyathi said.
The Bindura nine year old ordeal comes at a time when the police are still investigating a case of a pregnant nine-year-old girl from Masekesa village in Tsholotsho under Chief Gampu, who was impregnated by an unknown individual.
