A Harare man from Dzivarasekwa suburb reportedly raped a 13 year old girl after the minor had turned down his advances.
According to a police report of June 23, the accused person proposed love to the minor who was fetching water from a sink in Dzivarasekwa 3 suburb.
While fetching water, the girl got into the toilet to take more buckets, and the man identified as Tichaona Mangindo followed the minor and allegedly raped her without protection.
The matter was later discovered when the minor narrated what had happened to her mother.
On July 1, the mother reported the incident to the police leading to Mangindo’s arrest.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare Provincial spokesperson, Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations were in progress.
“On 23 June 2023 at around 2000hrs, the complainant was fetching water from the sink, and the accused person proposed love to her. The complainant rejected the proposal. Â After a few minutes, the complainant got into the toilet intending to take more containers to fill, and the accused person followed her.
“Upon entering, he threatened the complainant that he would kill her and her parents if she refused to have sexual intercourse with him. Inside the toilet, the accused person removed the complainant’s trousers, tight and pants to knee level after and raped her once without protection.
“Matter came to light when the complainant informed her mother, who is the informant, on 01 July 2023, who then accompanied her to the police station and made a report. Scene was attended, and the accused was not located. The complainant was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for medical examination.”
