An unidentified man was found dead in Harare on Wednesday morning with his genitals removed and chest opened in a case of suspected ritual murder.
According to a report made to the police, Mawin Chinehasha allegedly saw a vagrant loitering around a hotel premises at which he is employed. Chinehasha allegedly chased away the vagrant from the hotel entrance.
After a while a passerby is reported to have approached Chinehasha and informed him that there was a dead body lying along Simon Muzenda rd (formerly 4th Street), close to the said hotel.
Chinehasha then allegedly went to investigate and discovered the dead body. He then reported the matter to the police at the 5Av Police post.
When the police arrived at the scene they found a dead body of a man with the head crushed. A huge stone of about 10kgs in weight was reportedly found near to the corpse. The stone had blood stains on it.
The deceased’s chest was opened and it showed that some organs were missing.
The Police said investigations are in progress.
“On the 28th of august 2023 at around 0845 hours the informant saw a vagrant holding some meat close to the main entrance of the hotel and he chased him away. Ten minutes later a black male adult came to the entrance and informed the informant that there was a dead body that was lying along Simon Muzenda rd on the eastern side of a road island.
“Informant went to investigate and discovered the dead body. Informant advised one Dispol Tshuma about the incident. Scene was attended by ZRP Fife Avenue. It was observed that the head of the deceased was crushed and the chest was opened.
“The genitals were removed. Homicide, studios and cid forensic were advised and they attended the scene. Observations It was observed that some part of the brain were on the tarred road near the deceased. A used condom was also found beside the deceased.
“Some intestines measuring about 1,9m long were found on the Northen side of the island and part of the male genitals were stuck on the road. part of the human intestines were also found in the flower pot at corner George Silundika and Simon Muzenda due north.
“The human spinster was found on the ground at corner George Silundika and Simon Muzenda due south. Some blood was seen on a Zesa box on the island about 3 metres from the deceased. Blood was splattered on the slab of quality international hotel about 30m from the deceased a huge stone about 10 kgs was found stained with blood some eight(8) metres from the hotel and approximately 40 metres from the deceased. The opened chest showed that some organs were missing.
“Scene was attended by cid homicide, cid studios, cid forensic and ZRP Fife Avenue. Fingerprints have been uplifted for identification of the deceased since no particulars were found. Body of deceased has been ferried to Parirenyatwa mortuary and investigations are now under way on ZRP Fife Avenue RRB 5617250,” reads the docket.
