Squatter Breaks Into Borrowdale House, Stealing Laptops And Money.

A 22yr old suspected thief has been arrested in Borrowdale after allegedly breaking into a house in the neighbourhood and stealing laptops and money.

The suspect, Simbarashe Tichabaiwa (22), was caught at a squatter camp in Borrowdale suburb, after he allegedly broke into a house by scalling the perimiter wall before using a sharp object to break the main bedroom window to gain entry into the house.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and arrest of the suspect.

Tichabaiwa allegdly stole 3 x laptops -HP specter x 360 CND 23814RG, HP elite book CND 1320PGV, HP Pavilion BCG 6483CF5, two laptop chargers brown handbag, Kenyan currency  5000 shillings , US $40-00, ear pods, parker pen and blue school scuff.

The matter was reported at ZRP Highlands and police details from the station attended to the scene.

It’s alleged that after stealing the goods, Tichabaiwa fled to Borrowdale squatter camp.

Police details made some local searches, eventually noticing Tichabaiwa suspiciously holding a search light inside the squatter camp. He was arrested and all the stollen goods were recovered except the 5000shilling whohc hasn’t been accounted for.

The suspect admitted to the crime and is being held at Highlands Police Station awaiting court. The total value of goods stolen is US$2 996-00 and 5000 shillings.

“Total value recovered is US$2 996-00. The accused is detained and investigations are in progress.  ZRP Highlands DB 536/23 and RRB 3110359 refers,” reads the docket.
