Three unknown assailants allegedly robbed four Security guards employed by Budiriro 1 High School at gun point.
According to a report made to the police, Clifford Mugwagwa and his three co-workers were on duty when they were attacked and robbed of US$1600 at gunpoint.
Before fleeing, the robbers allegedly tied the security guards’ wrists and legs with shoe laces and tied them in the administration block’s toilet.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.
“On 23 September 2023 around 2200 hours, informant in the company of other three (03) workmates, Tinotenda MUNYORO, aged 20 years of 410 Budiriro 1, Harare, Nelson NGIRAZI, aged 65 years of Churu Farm and Larry CHASAMBA, aged 33 years of Budiriro 5 New Stands were on duty manning the guardroom.
“They were approached by the accused persons. One of the accused persons produced an unidentified pistol and ordered them to lie down. They tied their hands using cello tape and force marched them to the administration block’s toilet where they further tied their legs with shoe laces.
“The accused persons used an iron bar and broke the main door lock. They entered the reception before they broke Bursar’s office door, senior women’s office door, deputy headmaster’s door, Records office’s door and the Headmaster’s door. The accused persons used an object and broke a safe in the Bursar’s office.
“They stole cash US$700-00. They ransacked the offices and further took cash US$900-00 in the headmaster’s office. A report was made at ZRP Budiriro and scene was attended. Informant and his workmates were found in the toilet. Total value stolen is US$1 600-00. No arrests or recoveries were made. Investigations are in progress,” reads the docket.
