Another case of armed robbery reported in Mandara as four assailants allegedly broke into a house and attacked a security guard manning the house before getting away with US$10 144.
According to a report made to the police, John Makuvire was attacked by four assailants while conducting perimeter checks at the property.
The suspects allegedly attacked him before tying him with a shoe lace and force marching him to the main house.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.
“On 30 October 2023 around 1900 hours, John Makuvire aged 43, of Hillside Harare, employed by Animox Security Company was manning the premise when he was approached by the accused persons.
“The accused persons were putting on face masks and three were armed with unknown pistols and two machetes. They tied the security guard both hands with a shoe lace and force marched him to the main house. The accused persons then entered into the kitchen where the maid, Ropafadzo Bere was cooking together with the translators’ wife Leona MADZINGA and her young sister Charmaine Chinakidzwa who had just visited them.
“One of the accused persons took meat from the kitchen which he used to poison the three dogs which were in the premise and they all died. The accused persons tied the hands of the three women and locked them in one of the rooms whilst the guard was locked in the toilet.
“They demanded to be shown were the safe was but no one knew. The accused persons then ransacked the whole house looking for cash and valuables. In the main house they took cash US$8 000-00 which was in a monarch, a piece of diamond valued at US$1 200-00, a box containing about 10 new cell phones [type not yet supplied] and cash US$24-00 from Leona Madzinga.
“They also damaged 4 cellphones; a ViVo Y100 which belongs to Ropafadzo Bere, a Huawei Y7 for Leona Madzinga, a Redme cellphone and a laptop which belongs to the informant Deng Shaohua. After the accused persons were gone, the complainants managed to untie themselves and called the informant who then made a report at ZRP Highlands.
“Scene was attended by ZRP Highlands and CID Homicide. No arrests or recoveries were made. Total value stolen is US$10 144-00.” reads the docket.
