A Harare man was recently left counting his loses after an as yet to be identified assailant allegedly broke into his parked vehicle and stole gadgets worth USD3 000 on October 31.
According to a report made to the police, the victim, Cosmas Muwesha, parked his vehicle at his workplace in Milton Park, locked all doors and went to work, leaving his phone and think pad on the rear passenger seat.
Upon his return, Muwesha reportedly discovered that the gadgets he had left in the car were missing. He proceeded to make a report at Milton Park Police Station.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.
“On 31 October 2023 around 1000 hours, the complainant parked his motor vehicle, a Mercedes Benz white in colour at his workplace. The complainant closed all windows, locked his motor vehicle using a remote control, and went about his business.
“Around 1100 hours, the complainant left his workplace and went to his motor vehicle and discovered that an unknown accused person had used an unknown object to break the rear window screen and stole a Samsung S9 cellphone and a ThinkPad which were on the left rear passenger seat and went away unnoticed. The total value stolen is US$3 000-00 and nothing was recovered,” reads the docket.
