The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a Zvimba man for allegedly rap*ng a 4 year old girl.

According to a report made to the police, the parents of the victim left their child in the hands of the perpetrator on February 13 this month.

After they had gone, the perpetrator, whom they stayed with but not related, allegedly went straight to the sofa where the victim was sitting, undressed her, forced her to lie down and fulfilled his canal desires without protection.

On February 17, the victim revealed the heart wrenching incident to her aunt, and they made a report to the police, leading to the perpetrator’s arrest.

ZRP Harare provincial spokesperson, Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest and narrated the whole ordeal.

He said “Complainant and accused are not related but they stay at the same house. On 13 February 2024 around 1100 hours, complainant was left at home in the custody of the accused person who resides at the same house and they were only two at the house.

“The complainant was seated on the sofa when the accused person came in and removed her pant, told complainant to lie down on the sofa and rap*d her once without protection. Complainant later revealed the matter to her aunt on 17 February. On 18 February the complainant was escorted by her aunt to ZRP Marimba and made a report. Accused person was arrested and detained at ZRP Marimba.”
