“Chamisa’s Resignation Showed Lack Of Maturity & Weakness”

Zimbabwean News You Can Trust

The leader of FreeZim Congress leader, Joseph Makamba Busha, has described the resignation of Nelson Chamisa from the main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) as showing a lack of spine.

Busha said all political parties face infiltration, hence Chamisa shouldn’t have left his party, adding that the father of the house does not desert his house and family because a snake has entered.

Busha also said the problem with the CCC and its predecessior, the MDC, was that it was a coming together of people around an idea, which was the removal of then President Robert Mugabe, but with no shared ideology & a shared vision, hence the unending splits and chaos.

In an interview with 263Times on Tuesday, Busha said, “If you are an authentic leader, you don’t give up. If you are a father. You don’t run away from the house because you saw a snake. You take the snake out of your house, so Chamisa’s resignation is disagreeable but l think he might be the best person to explain why he took that decision.

“According to my understanding, the core reason why he resigned was infiltration. But you know there are always spies and people who monitor what you do. I think his actions were lack of maturity within CCC and lack of persons with a shared vision.”

Chamisa resigned from the main opposition CCC on January 25 this year, citing infiltration by the ruling Zanu Pf, after the opposition’s self-imposed Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu had recalled dozens of the party’s councillors and MP’s.

Meanwhile, former Harare East legislator Tendai Biti also ditched CCC earlier this week, saying he was taking a sabbatical from politics. he dissociated himself from the CCC faction led by Professor Welshman Ncube, saying that he had never been party to the meeting that chose him as a rotational President with Ncube and Lynette Karenyi-Kore.

Since his resignation from CCC, Chamisa has been coy about his future political plans. However, his key allies Amos Chibaya, Gift Ostallos Siziba and Prince Dubeko Sibanda have been holding mini-rallies across the country using the Blue movement banner.

Reports say some politicians aligned to Chamisa are jostling for positions in their yet-to-be unveiled movement, as efforts are being made to rebuild Zimbabwe’s opposition that was crippled by the controversial recalls of elected representatives soon after the 2023 elections.
