A school administrator was arrested and appeared in court after allegedly awarding Quest Motors Corporation a corrupt tender for a 56-seater bus.
Following his arrest by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission officers, Brain Chigudu, the headmaster of Vuti High School, appeared before Chinhoyi magistrate Vakayi Douglas Chikwekwe on Monday, facing charges of criminal abuse of duty.
According to the prosecution, Chigudu gave Quest Motors Corporation, a business that had not replied to the tender application advertisement, a US$155 000 tender in violation of procurement laws.
He was granted US$300 bail and remanded to February 3, 2025.
As part of his bail conditions, Chigudu was ordered not to interfere with State witnesses and banned from visiting Vuti High School until the matter is resolved.
