A shocking incident occurred at midnight on Tuesday in Epworth, where a taxi driver Nigel Kadzengere was robbed and assaulted by three unknown male assailants. The driver, who was operating his green Mazda Demio as an unregistered taxi, picked up a passenger at Chiremba Shops who asked to be dropped off near Chiremba Clinic.
According to a report made to the police, the passenger paid the driver USD 5 for the fare, but things took a turn for the worse when they arrived at the destination. The passenger allegedly grabbed the Kadzengere by the neck, unlocked the doors, and signaled for two other accomplices to emerge from the darkness.
The three men subdued the driver, tying his hands and legs with shoelaces, and stole his iPhone 7 and USD 10 in cash.
The assailants then reportedly drove the vehicle to the Tobacco Research area in Epworth, where they dumped the driver after assaulting him with fists and booted feet. Kadzengere managed to untie himself and reported the incident to the police in Epworth.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.

The accused persons tied the complainant’s hands and legs with shoelaces.
“They put him on the back seat while one of them occupied the driver’s seat. They drove to Tobacco Research area in Epworth, where they disembarked and took the complainant out of the vehicle.
