Zimbabwe-born American football player Farai Hoko has won the Chinese National Football League championship with his club Shanghai Titans after romping to victory over the weekend.
After losing two finals, it was finally third time lucky for Hoko, who grabbed his first winner’s medal this Saturday with the Shanghai Titans.
Hoko, who lost the first final he played in before leaving the 2020 championship with a muscle injury, has finally made it.
For a player who has been playing professional American football for the past five years, winning the championship means everything for him.
“It means so much for me. I wanted to win it for Zimbabwe because that’s where I come from and we deserve to stand out,” Hoko said.
Hoko, who was in Zimbabwe last year donating equipment, hopes to do more to help his country grow in sport.
