Zimbabwean News You Can Trust
Zanu PF spokesperson Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa has all but ruled out opposition access to State Media, stating at a press briefing that, “CCC leader Nelson Chamisa doesn’t deserve the coverage of Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), because he has nothing solid to offer the people of Zimbabwe.”
Addressing journalists in Harare today at the party’s headquarters, Mutsvangwa “mockingly” advised main opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa to engage other media entities so that he gets enough media coverage for his election campaigns.
“If you are not happy about the coverage of ZBC, why don’t you go to NRTV and DailyNews? Go pay money there and be aired, because these media organizations are there in the country. About 7 broadcasting stations are now available, why are you trying to make any issue about one particular radio station?
“Chamisa was never seen with a businessman in any of his life receiving a business delegation at the airport. He had never been at a factory cutting a ribbon or a new factory being opened by Mayor Mafume, who runs Harare. Now you want ZBC to come and cover you. What are you doing in terms of solid progress projects for this country for you to receive coverage to do your Godisinit,” quipped Mutsvangwa.
Mutsvangwa told the CCC to stop blaming the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), the police and the judiciary, insisting that the opposition party was making petty claims against these institutions because it was not ready for the general election next week Wednesday.
“The other team was busy preparing for the match, you were not preparing for the match, you were busy fighting at each other, making accusations and counter accusations. You are not ready, you are pointing the referee ZEC, the judiciary and ZRP. No, it’s your fault. You should accept that you are disorganized,” he added.
However, responding to Mutsvangwa’s statements, political analyst Agerncy Gumbo, rubbished Mutsvangwa’s utterances, describing them as an “arrogance of dictatorship”. He said Zanu PF always uses state institutions to retain power during elections.
“It’s very unfortunate that Chris Mutsvangwa has said that, but it vindicates what we have always said over the years that Zanu PF has set to capture State institutions, set to capture public institutions, and has set to compromise key institutions in this country to ensure that it retains power,” added Gumbo.
