A Waterfalls woman recently lost US$8000 to armed robbers who broke into her house and tied her hand and feet with shoe laces.

According to a report made to the police, Zvamaita Chihono, was busy with her house hold chores in the evening and was washing vegetables on the outside sink of her house when two unidentified males appeared from out of the blue, allegedly attacking her from behind before they tied her legs and hands with shoe laces.

Moments later the suspects allegedly force marched her into the house where they gagged her by stuffing socks in her mouth. They then allegedly proceeded to ransack the house, in the process stealing a total of US$7946.

After the robbery the suspects allegedly fled the scene. Neighbours reportedly came to the rescue of Chihono and untied her. She then made a report at Waterfalls Police Station.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.

“On 15 September 2023 around 1700 hours, the complainant arrived home from town and entered the yard. She went on to clean vegetables on the outside sink. “The accused person then gagged the complainant using a pair of socks. One of the accused persons produced an unknown type of a rifle and pointed it at the complainant’s forehead. The accused person ordered the complainant to surrender her cellphone and she complied.

“The accused persons then force marched the complainant into the house where they ransacked the house and stole cash amounting to US$7946-00.
