Murewa maize farmers have estimated production to be much better than last year’s as they are receiving favourable rainfall which will boosts high yields, 263times can report.
With more rains, farmers in Murewa are excited and are hoping for more rains for the remaining part of the season.
The rains has brought relief to farmers who failed to have better produce last year.
”Mvura yasunungura moyo yedu, gore rino ndere maguta, nekuti kana mazhanje anga ari mashoma takabva taziva kuti mvura iriko izvezvi tatone chibange chirikukura , gore rino tichakohwa kupfuura gore rakapera.” Farmer, Sekuru Mutata said.
However, Murewa farmers are hoping to get fertilizers and other chemicals from the government to boost their yields.
”We are hoping for the provision of fertilizers from the government and chemical requirements we need as farmers.” Sekuru Mutata said.
Maize farming and sugar beans is a key source of income for many small scale farmers in Murewa and Mutoko.
Farmers in Murewa are welcoming rains with smiling faces, and it is raining almost everyday in Murewa .
