The Meteorological Service Department (Met) has predicted heavy rains in the Western and Southern parts of the country from today until Sunday 20 December.
In a statement, Met said the rains are likely to cause flash flooding hence the need to be cautious.
“Widespread thunderstorms and rain expected with heavier falls over Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan, Matabeleland North, Midlands, Masvingo and southern parts of Manicaland; thus there is a high probability of flash flooding in these areas as we draw close to the weekend.
“Lightning strikes are still a threat, so when thunder roars it is best to be indoors.” The statement read.
The Met department said the rains will come through Botswana and will fall with an excess of 50mm in 24 hours.
