Fresh Details Emerge On ED’s Ally, Mike Chimombe

Fresh details reaching this publication indicate that socialite Mike Chimombe was arrested on Monday accused of defrauding a man US$16,000 in a botched transaction for a housing stand.

Reports revealed the 41 year old was nabbed by detectives from his Borrowdale Brooke home in Harare, after initially resisting arrest by uniformed officers shortly after 8AM.

Police are also holding his alleged accomplices Steve Chimombe and Hermysh Katsande, who face several counts of fraud.

Efforts to get a comment from the National Police spokesman, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi’s were fruitless, as the phone rang unanswered over several hours in the early hours today.

Law enforcement sources however told a local publication that the former Affirmative Action Group (AAG) president is accused of selling a non-existent stand to Harare businessman, Brian Marungamise.

Marungamise reportedly paid US$16,000 for the stand in Tynwald, before discovering that he has been duped.

Meanwhile, Chimombe is still in police custody.

The accused has been photographed in the company of President Emmerson Mnangagwa on several occasions.
