Epworth Farmer Loses Agricultural Equipment To Armed Robbers

Another case of armed robbery reported in Epworth as nine assailants allegedly broke into a Harvey dale Farm in Epworth area and ordered the occupants to cover their face with blankets and threatened them with death if they resisted.

The suspects allegedly got away with two pigs, 3 chickens,11 bags of fertilizer, 10 horse power water pump,5 solar panels, two by 12 volts Solar batteries, a sub hoofer with 3 speakers and an  inverter.

The goods stolen total US$3 000 in cash.

According to a report made to the police, Morgan Ndlovu was sleeping with his wife Amanda Mukungura when he heard a loud bang on the door which eventually opened and eight unknown men allegedly entered the house armed with irons bars and ordered them to cover their faces with blankets, threatening them with death if they resisted.

The victims reportedly managed to identify one of the suspects as Tanya, as he allegedly has a facial tattoo  and is a local resident.

The two complainants were assaulted all over their bodies with iron bars whilst inside the blankets.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.

“On the 16 September 2023 and around 2000 hours the complainant who was sleeping with his wife Amanda Mukungura nr nil aged 20 years heard a loud bang on the door which eventually opened and unknown eight men entered the house holding iron bars.

“They ordered them to cover their faces with blankets and were threatened with death if they resisted. The two complainants complied. The two had already managed to identify Tanya with his facial tattoo since he is a local person. The two complainants were assaulted all over their bodies whilst in the blankets with iron bars.

“Morgan Ndlovu sustained a painful waist and Amanda Mukungura sustained a painful right leg. Whilst the two complainants were inside their blankets, they heard a vehicle at the backyard which they did not identify.  The vehicle came on two different occasions which they heard that something was being loaded at that time they could not make any movement since they were under guard hearing two male voices inside the room.

“The accused persons left the house at around 2330 hours; the complainants retired to bed but were not sure whether they had all left. When it was around  0500 hours, the two complainants  woke up and discovered that the accused persons had stolen two pigs, 3 chicken,11 bags of fertilizer,  10 horse one water pump  serial number unknown ,5 solar panels, two by 12 volts Solar batteries,  a sub hoofer with 3 speakers and an  inverter.

“Total value stolen is US$3000-00. The scene was attended by ZRP Epworth, no arrest was made   and nothing was recovered. The two complainants were referred to Chitungwiza Hospital for medical treatment,” reads the docket
