ED Announces Covid -19 Measures For Easter Holidays

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced some additional measures to avoid the 3rd wave of the Covid -19 pandemic which is already attacking some nations in the World.

In a statement, the President urged travelers coming into the country from neighboring countries to undergo valid Covid-19 PCR tests.

”Travelers coming into the country from neighboring states must undergo valid Covid-19 PCR tests not more than 48 hours from the time of their departure for Zimbabwe. Travelers without aforesaid valid test result clearing them for safe travel will be quarantined for 10 days at designated hotels at their own cost.” Mnangagwa said.

The President said the risk of the virus transmitting during this period of Easter is high and therefore, bars and night clubs were said to remain closed during Easter Holidays.

Wearing of face masks and social distancing will be strictly adhered and enforced to curb the spread of the virus.

Furthermore, he reported that school learners who are in boarding schools should stay at school during Easter Holidays.

”School learners who are in boarding schools will not be permitted to travel back home. Equally no parents will travel to  concerned schools for purposes of visits.” He said.

President ED added that people from different localities should be vaccinated at the designated areas.

”People from different localities are encouraged to come forward to designated centers for vaccination so that our nation builds towards herd immunity.” He said.

More so, the general public has been encouraged to defer unnecessary travel outside localities of residence.

Easter Holidays will be celebrated this week from Friday up to next week on Monday 5 April.
