The deadly pit that swallowed more than 40 people

Rescue operations at the Bindura Ran Mine which collapsed last month killing more than 30 illegal miners and vendors has been scaled down as more lives continue to get lost.

In a statement, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Nick Mangwana confirmed this saying the rescue operations has been scaled down due to the instability of the ground.

“Ran mine update: Rescue activities have been scaled down due to the instability of the ground around the site. Relatives continue to keep vigil at the site. Govt through the CPU is providing meals to the families.

“Funeral services firms are providing tents to accommodate families.” Nick Mangwana said.
